Most of my reading is nonfiction, but every now and then I pick up a novel that reminds me why people read fiction. At the moment, I’m alternating between Co-Intelligence, a book about living and working with AI, and Flowers for Algernon, a classic that has been much harder to put down than I expected.

AI and Technology

AI has become part of my daily work in both teaching and research. I’m interested in how these tools can help engineers learn, create, and solve problems more effectively. At the same time, I believe we need to be careful not to let convenience replace understanding. Finding the right balance between AI assistance and genuine learning is a challenge that I continue to explore.

Cooking

Professors do research in the lab. I also do research in my kitchen. Cooking keeps me connected to home and inspires many of the examples I use in my Heat Transfer class.
